Privacy Policy

We keep this simple: we collect as little as we need, we use it only to run Knit & Care and answer you, and we never sell it.

1. Who we are

This website is operated by Knit and Care ("Knit & Care", "we", "us"), a business based at 3013 Gateway Dr, Suffolk, VA 23435, United States. We design hand-crocheted collectibles and key rings in the USA that are made by artisans in Bangladesh. This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through this website (the "Site").

2. What we collect

Information you give us

• Wholesale and contact enquiries: your name, company (optional), email address, the type of enquiry, rough quantity (optional) and your message.
• Emails you send us: whatever you choose to include.

Information collected automatically

• Usage and device information: pages viewed, links and buttons clicked (for example, our Amazon store button), approximate location (city or country, derived from your IP address), browser, device type and the site that referred you. We collect this through analytics tools described in section 5.
• Technical information: our hosting and font providers receive your IP address and browser details when your browser requests the Site, as part of delivering it to you.

We do not collect payment information on this Site, and we do not ask for sensitive information such as government IDs or health data. Please do not send it to us.

3. How we use it

• To reply to your enquiries, prepare wholesale or custom quotes, and follow up on them.
• To understand how the Site is used so we can improve it, and to measure how many visitors go on to our Amazon store.
• To keep the Site and our forms secure and to prevent spam and abuse.
• To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations and to protect our rights.

We do not sell your personal information for money. We do use Google's advertising features, described in section 5, to measure our audience and to show relevant ads. Under some US state laws, this may count as "sharing" personal information for targeted advertising, and you can opt out as explained in sections 5 and 8.

4. Who we share it with

We share information only with service providers who help us run the Site and the business, and only so they can provide those services to us:

• Google (Google Workspace): enquiries are stored in Google Sheets and delivered to our team by Gmail.
• Google Analytics and Google's advertising services: website usage statistics, audience reports, and measuring and personalizing ads (see section 5).
• Google Fonts: serves the typeface used on the Site, and receives your IP address when it does.
• Our website host and content delivery network: delivers the Site and protects it from attacks.
• Our web developer, Nexario Digital: builds and maintains the Site and may access Site data to do so.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a sale or reorganization of our business, in which case this policy will continue to apply.

5. Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Site. Google Analytics sets cookies (small files stored by your browser) and collects the usage and device information described in section 2. We have turned on Google Analytics advertising features, including Google signals and ad personalization. This means:

• For visitors who are signed in to a Google account and have allowed ad personalization, Google may link Site visits to that account. This gives us aggregated reports on demographics and interests, and helps us measure visits across devices.
• We may use Google Analytics audiences and measurements to show Knit & Care ads to people who have visited the Site, on Google and partner websites, and to see how those ads perform.

Google's use of this data is described in How Google uses information from sites that use its services.

How to opt out:

• Turn off personalized ads, or change your ad preferences, in Google's My Ad Center.
• Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
• Use the industry opt-out tools at aboutads.info or networkadvertising.org.
• Block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The Site still works without them.
• Email us at nur@knitandcare.com to opt out of the sharing of your personal information for targeted advertising.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. The Site does not currently change its behavior in response to Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control browser signals. Please use the options above to opt out.

Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland. For these visitors, advertising and analytics cookies are not used without consent. Google receives only limited, cookieless measurement data.

Apart from Google as described here, we do not allow third parties to collect personal information about your online activities over time and across different websites through our Site.

6. Amazon purchases

Our products are sold through Amazon. When you follow a link to Amazon, you leave this Site, and Amazon's own Privacy Notice applies to your browsing, account, payment and delivery information there. Amazon shares limited order information with us as the seller (for example, what was ordered and where it ships) so that we can fulfil and support your order. We use it only for that purpose.

7. How long we keep it

• Enquiries: for as long as we need them to respond to you, to manage any business relationship that follows, and to keep reasonable business, tax and legal records. You can ask us to delete your enquiry at any time, and we will do so unless we are required to keep it.
• Analytics data: Google Analytics keeps detailed usage data for the retention period set in our account and then deletes it automatically. Summary reports that do not identify you may be kept for longer to help us understand trends over time.

8. Your choices and rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

• tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy of it;
• correct information that is wrong; and
• delete your information.

Depending on where you live, including California, Virginia and other US states with privacy laws, Canada, and the European Economic Area and United Kingdom, you may have additional rights, such as the right to opt out of targeted advertising and the "sharing" of personal information, to opt out of other processing, to object to or restrict processing, to data portability, and to appeal our decision on your request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

To make a request, email nur@knitandcare.com. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on it, and we will respond within the time the law requires (generally 30 to 45 days). If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision. If you are in Canada, you may also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada; if you are in the EEA or UK, to your local data protection authority.

9. Security

We use reputable providers, encrypted (HTTPS) connections and restricted access to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we will notify you and the authorities of a breach where the law requires it.

10. Children

Our products are collectibles for adults and teens aged 14 and over, not toys for young children. The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. International visitors

We are based in the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries, where it may be accessible to courts and authorities under local law. If you are in Canada, this means your information will be stored and processed outside Canada. Where we receive information from the EEA or UK, we rely on our legitimate interests in responding to you and running the Site, on your consent where required, and on appropriate safeguards offered by our providers for international transfers.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the "Last updated" date above, and if the changes are significant we will make that clear on the Site.
